Help for a Beginner???

Is there any help for someone who is new to gaming? I don't typically play these type of games, but since it was free I thought I would check it out. Every explanation I see or help I find feels like it has been written in a foreign language. Are there just basics available? Something that does not assume you have played something like this before?

Someone on another thread mentioned doing something during the tutorial...I see no tutorial available...I see a training but that didn't really help at all. What am I missing?

Because of my 'newness' I was playing the single player Campaign and was doing ok....then I got to Act 1: Hope of Humanity--Payment...HAH! how the heck am I supposed to kill that big ship? I shoot at it, but nothing happens (at least not that I can tell)....and more than half the time the laser thing kills me.

Please, Oh Please Help ME!...I want to like this game, I really do, but I something has to become clearer for me to continue to try and play it.

Well, since you were able to get to that boss, I'd say you're doing okay so far. :) Did you notice that there was a red health bar for it at the top of the screen? I use depth charges while I'm above it, and boost around (right trigger, or hold the x button) to dodge the laser when I know it's coming.

Thank you so much! My husband came home and tried the game for the first time tonight...he, of course, killed that thing right away...no deaths! That was when I finally was able to make the connection between him shooting the thing and the red bar. However, I really appreciate your patient reply and I will check out the tips thread.

Have you tried co-op campaign mode yet? It's a blast :D

Thanks!RoninRabite already brought it up, but in case you and your husband like to play videogames together, you should know that Undertow supports split-screen in the co-op mode and the multiplayer. I think you just have to press start on the second controller and voila.
