My previous thread was locked, and I see no other way to continue the discussion on one of the topics raised other than to start a new thread. If I have acted against the ToS of this forum, kindly instruct me on a proper course of action whereby I can continue to contribute constructive ideas in a civil manner.

So am I reading it right that for every fresh run that I desire, I should register and make a new local profile?

Well, as I've said, for some the appeal of Metroidvania style games is to start from zero and get a sense of progressive achievements. The design philosophy of Shadow Complex seems to be a one way ticket that encourages power gaming, building on the player's previous levels. It takes away part of the challenge in being under-leveled, except for the Minimalist achievement. If Chair Entertainment is truly inspired by Metroid style games, it should acknowledge this zero-to-hero aspect of the genre.

I often start Castlevania games anew by deleting all my former save games because I enjoy the journey of powering up, and not because I desire to powerlevel my way to god mode on every subsequent run. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who enjoys Metroidvania games in this manner, but I'm quite sure it won't hurt to include a New Game option without the hassle of creating a new profile. For, if other Metroid style games can do it, I'm sure Chair Entertainment in its pursuit of making a good Metroid game will be committed to engraving a core aspect of tradition in its current flagship title.

I agree somewhat. I like power gaming, but I know some players don't. So maybe they could somehow add that to the game...If they can?

Just delete your save game then. System settings > memory > games

I have a memory card for this kinda thing so I can move the save game to the mem card and start a new game on the hard drive. And copy the save game from the mem card back if I want to.

I know its a hastle :P

Deleting the save doesn't do anything. I deleted my save, uninstalled the game, put in a memory unit, and was still the same level on a new game.
